July 6, 1915. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is 80 today. He is the political and spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and teacher of nonviolence, and a convener of multifaith dialogues on science, religions, the emotions, and the mind. We have profiled him in our Living Spiritual Teachers Project.

Celebrations of his birthday are taking place around the world among people who admire his teachings, commitments, and love of life. Here are a few birthday wishes:

We are sending our own blessings to His Holiness today and will be celebrating his birthday by repeating these phrases in his honor:

May I be kind.
May I be compassionate.
May I feel my deep connection with others.

May you be kind.
May you be compassionate.
May you feel your deep connection with others.

May all beings be kind.
May all beings be compassionate.
May all beings feel connected.
