"To complete the circle of love is to bring back to God the love that comes from God, to complete the circuit or the circulation of the love, like the veins carrying the blood back to the heart, where it will be renewed and flow again through the arteries to all parts of the body. Here the vision is of everyone and everything coming from God and returning to God, of the love of God coming to everyone and everything and returning again to God. 'In the beginning was the Word' is the expression of the love coming through the arteries, and 'In the end is the Word' is the expression of the love returning through the veins. As I contemplate this vision, I feel like Black Elk saying of his life, 'Now that I can see it all as from a lonely hilltop, I know it was the story of a mighty vision given to a man too weak to use it.' This vision I am contemplating, the love coming from God and returning to God like blood flowing through the arteries and back through the veins to the heart, is 'a mighty vision.' And I am 'a man too weak to use it.' Or is there a way I can use it?

"To use a vision is to realize it. For instance, for Black Elk to use his vision of two roads, a red one, 'the road of good,' and a black one, 'a fearful road, a road of troubles and war,' would have been to walk the red road of good himself and to lead others on it, to lead his people on it. To use my vision of love coming from God and going to God would be to walk the mystic road of love myself, what I am trying to learn here, and to lead others on it, what I am doing by writing all this down. I am learning to walk and to talk here, to walk the mystic road of love and to talk to others about it. If my love of God is essentially joy in the thought of God and of a journey with God in time, I am learning to walk in 'wandering joy.' "
