"As you know, Shinto is polytheistic. So, in the mythologies, whenever Kami-deities face troubles or problems, they discuss them with each other and solve them. An example of this is a story where the deity Amaterasu-O-mikami suddenly hides in a cave of rocks with a thick door, called Amano-iwato-gakure. This deity symbolizes the sun, so after she hides herself, the world becomes dark. While the other Kami-deities worry about the situation, one strong Kami among them cannot make a decision, so another deity asks all of them for ideas and opinions. Eventually each Kami takes a role and they succeed in regaining the sunlight. This story teaches us the importance of dialogue, of the value of gathering together, and of drawing out the wisdom of people around the world to create a better world."
