"The goddess brings about a great metaphoric shift in the way we think about God," states Carol Christ, director of the Ariadne Institute for the Study of Myths and Ritual in Greece, during this one-hour conversation with New Dimensions Radio host Michael Toms. Feminist spirituality enables individuals to move beyond objective thinking and focus on embodiment. The emphasis upon the inner goddess has propelled many to develop a more nurturing attitude toward themselves and toward the earth.

Christ talks about the links between devotion to the black Madonna and reverence for the natural world. She also discusses the significance of the many appearances of Mary around the world. The ethics of goddess spirituality emphasizes unity and connections rather than divisions and separation. Christ is the author of Rebirth of the Goddess: Finding Meaning in Feminist Spirituality (1997).
