Irish poet, author, and Catholic scholar John O'Donohue passed on in January 2008. To Bless the Space Between Us is his last work. He reads it here on four CDs running four hours with accompanying music by Irish harpist Aine Minogue.

According to O'Donohue, "When we stand before crucial thresholds in our lives, we have no rituals to protect, encourage, and guide us as we cross over into the unknown. For such crossings, we need to find new words." A blessing breaks down the barriers between people and is the ultimate form of intimacy. It changes the environment around us and opens new possibilities of connection, healing, and transformation. The blessings O'Donohue has written are divided into seven sections: Beginnings, Desires, Thresholds, Homecomings, States of Heart, Callings, and Beyond Endings.

To listen to these poetic messages rendered with the enthusiasm and spiritual devotion that was the hallmark of O'Donohue's distinctive speaking style is to be transported to a realm of deep feeling and beauty. These blessings enable us to cross the different thresholds of our lives with reverence. The ones here bear the same spirit of everyday spirituality incarnated by those who follow the Celtic tradition.
