Bailey is one enthusiastic dog who is happy going to school. Although he can't speak, he gets along with all the children, even though sometimes he reverts to old habits such as eating his homework or raiding the trash can at lunchtime for scraps of food. Bailey is good at math and loves reading. He has a good heart which comes across when he gives Mrs. Smith his old chewed up bone as a birthday present. Bailey enjoys dancing and is even a member of the choir with his howling style. His school report is on Fala, Franklin D. Roosevelt's dog.

It is said in the old cliché: "You can’t teach an old dog new tricks." But writer and illustrator Harry Bliss shows that dogs are capable of learning plenty of new things. Bailey will appeal to kids from 4 to 8 years of age. This is a perfect children's book to excite children about the prospect of returning to school in the fall!
