Robert Frager is the founding president of the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, California. He is also a Sufi teacher and one of S&P's Living Spiritual Teachers. Frager serves as editor of this paperback, which is "A New Consciousness Reader." He has gathered articles by the world's leading experts on 21 popular typology systems, which have been described as "maps of the psyche."

All of these typologies address the same universal question: "Who am I?" Besides giving us insights into our behavior patterns, habits, and beliefs, these systems offer clearer understandings of others and the larger society. In his astute introduction, Frager points out that these typologies all offer special messages and are useful tools. But there is no system that is right for everyone. Different strokes for different folks is the way to look at them.

Among the many typologies covered are astrology, chakras, Ayurvedic types, Chinese medical types, tarot archetypes, left brain/right brain styles, leadership styles, body-mind types, and enneagram types. The writers include Ram Dass, Helen Palmer, Carl Jung, James Hillman, Erik Erikson, Angeles Arrien, and others.
