In 1965, Columbia University psychology professor Helen Schucman received teachings from a mysterious inner voice which, once dictated and transcribed, would become the 1,200 page text known as A Course in Miracles (ACIM). This teaching has changed many lives with its special emphasis on letting go of fear, loving, and practicing forgiveness. D. Patrick Miller is a widely published writer, independent publisher, and literary consultant. His book Understanding A Course in Miracles (2008) offers a thought-provoking assessment of this New Age curriculum.

Now in Living with Miracles, Miller presents his take on ACIM as "a self-study handbook of personal transformation" that has reached millions of people over the last 30 years. He calls it "a new kind of common sense" and has divided this paperback into sections on "The Basics," "The Big Ideas," "The Long Haul of Learning," and "The Payoff."

Here the interested reader will find discussions of ACIM's revelations about the spiritual practice of forgiveness, the path of love, the existence of the Holy Spirit or "internal teacher," the nature of the real world, the challenges of letting go of the ego, the delight of special relationships which become holy when dedicated to understanding, and seeing the body as "a tool of spiritual transcendence and communion."

Miller concludes that the long-term benefits of ACIM include a healing self-awareness, greater creativity, sharper insights into other people, a stronger sense of trust, and a growing sense of peaceful strength.
