Sandy Newbigging is the creator of the Mind Detox Method, a meditation teacher, and author of several books. Yoga Magazine recently described him as "one of the best meditation teachers around." He runs courses, leads retreats and has been seen on television worldwide. You can visit him at www.sandynewbigging.com.

Newbigging would agree with the bestselling author Eckhart Tolle who has written: "The world will continually challenge you. Take peace with you everywhere you go, by making being peace your priority."

The author is firmly convinced that too much thinking is the cause of so much stress, disappointment, and muck-ups in our lives. It "leads to ill-health, inhibits creativity, postpones your peace, limits your love, and, perhaps most importantly, prevents you from knowing the unbound brilliance of your real self."

Peace, according to Newbigging, is our birthright, and there are ways we can free ourselves from the prison of thinking too much. We can put our minds under new management through meditation, focused attention, being present, cultivating silence, and having enlightened eyes (see the excerpt).

The author covers a lot of territory in this brief paperback and we were especially impressed with his takes on the stories we tell ourselves, failure, feeling bad, serenity, and the art of waking up.
