Reading this children's book, Mary Ann remembered what an imaginative little kid she was. While still in elementary school herself, she volunteered to be a storyteller for the neighborhood children, making up tales on the spot. She and Sadie, who "more than anything … likes stories because you can make them from nothing at all," would have been great friends.

Sadie is a curious and smart little girl whom we first meet while she is crouched down in a box; to her, it is an enormous boat and she's crossing a wide sea. She sails around her room and then gets ready for the day: "Sadie's perfect day is spent with friends. Some of them live on her street, and some live in the pages of books." Books have enabled her to live under the sea, to be a boy raised by wolves, to have adventures in Wonderland, to play the hero in fairy tales, and to fly anytime she wants to fly.

This charming book written by Sara O'Leary with illustrations by Julie Morstand is for children aged three through 8. It salutes the many virtues of the imagination and encourages children to think out-of-the-box and express their creativity wherever and whenever they can.
