Marilyn Schlitz is a writer, laboratory and clinical scientist, social anthropologist, and public speaker. She is President Emeritus of the Institute of Noetic Sciences where she conducted research on consciousness for more than 30 years. She has been featured in various interviews and videos. As well, she has authored and co-authored numerous books, such as Living Deeply: The Art of Science of Transformation and Consciousness and Healing on integral approaches to mind-body medicine.

Schlitz believes that now is the time for people to face their mortality and to consider how death makes life possible. Using a potpourri of interviews she conducted with Rick Hanson, Brother David Steindl-Rast, Sam Keen, Dean Ornish, Satish Kumar, and others, the author challenges us to transform our worldviews, to ponder the science of the afterlife, to pay attention to the practice of dying, and to put into perspective life, death, and the quantum soul.

Schlitz ends each chapter with a summation and a spiritual practice. In his foreword. Deepak Chopra heralds Schlitz's ability to awaken us to the transformations and interconnections of life and death.
