Krishnamurti: 100 Years by Evelyne Blau was originally published in 1995 to mark the centennial anniversary of the birth of the Indian prophet, teacher, and philosopher. At the age of 14 this Hindu was discovered on the beach at the Bay of Bengal and was taken under the wings of Annie Besant of the Theosophical Society who saw him as an avatar, a world teacher. Krishnamurti acceded to her guidance until he was 34 years old. He then renounced his role and went on to speak and teach in India, England, Switzerland, and the United States until his death in 1986.

"In yourself lies the whole world," Krishnamurti wrote, "and if you know how to look and learn, then the door is there and the key is in your hand. Nobody on earth can give you either that key or the door to open except yourself." As a spiritual teacher, he espoused intuition, dialogue, the value of doubt, the importance of intellectual freedom, and pacifism.

Among the disciples and admirers who pay tribute here to Krishnamurti's importance in their lives are Aldous Huxley, Joseph Campbell, David Bohm, Howard Fast, Henry Miller, Larry Dossey, and many others. This impressive paperback contains 125 photographs and many quotations from Krishnamurti's writings and speeches.
