This tape shines a spotlight on the extraordinary ministry of a gifted harpist, singer, and founder of The Chalice of Repose Project in Missoula, Montana. While working in a geriatric home, Schroeder-Sheker realized that people want to experience a conscious, peaceful death. Taking a cue from medieval monks who used music and beauty to usher people into the next world, she and her associates have created healing deathbed vigils that are orchestrated by the physical and spiritual needs of the dying.

Therese Schroeder-Sheker talks about the importance of the spiritual practices of beauty, attention, listening, and reverence in her hospital midwifery. It is so gratifying to hear about people who see that these qualities, combined with music as good medicine, can enhance life and the passage to death.
