Michael Phillips, former vice president of the Bank of California and developer of MasterCard, presents his ideas on the psychological, financial, and spiritual issues surrounding money. He believes that our attitudes toward this medium of exchange color our views of self-esteem, work, business, and service. A few of the seven laws include: (1) Money will come when you are doing the right thing; (2) Money is a dream; 3) We can never really give money away; and (4) There are worlds without money.

Phillips is especially good on his assessment of the rules of money when he talks about paying bills, keeping track of what you spend, and the importance of balance sheets. His work with banks and foundations enables him to speak with authority about the psychodynamics of saving, spending, and charity.
