This delightful board book for children ages 1 - 3 is the first in a new series by Peachtree Publishers. So many little boys get caught up early playing with trucks or trains or monsters. It is both refreshing and salutary to see a little boy who is planting seeds in a garden. It is not easy work as he hoes the rows and pulls the weeds. Then it takes patience to wait for the sun, the rain, and the seeds to do their thing. But the reward of green sprouts and leaves is well worth the wait.

In the garden, the boy is tutored in the value of working with the natural world to create beauty and something worthwhile. He labors in love and sees that it all pays off wonderfully with the miracle of new life. Best of all, the whole experience enables the little one to express his nurturing instinct. Hats off to Elizabeth Spurr for the words and to Manelle Oliphant for the charming illustrations.
