It is spring in Japan and the cherry trees are just blossoming. It is time for all the sleeping animals to arise from their slumbers and to feel the warmth of the sun on the stones where they sit. Mother Frog is the first to get up, and she rouses her 999 froglets who pop out of the ground ready to go. They all hear a strange snoring noise and discover it's coming from Big Brother Frog who has a reputation of being a genuine sleepyhead. They then proceed to wake up a turtle, a lizard, and some ladybugs.

Japanese writer Ken Kimura and illustrator Yasunari Murakami have fashioned a playful picture book sure to enchant and entertain children ages 4 and up. The community of former sleepyheads works together to wake up one last snorer, and then are shocked when it's a large snake.

When spring is beckoning us we are challenged to be wide-awake and eager to take in all the beauty!
