What a delight and a thrill to see that in the West, the dominance of men has ended in Buddhism. For years, we have been following the sensitive, compassionate, and stirring spiritual teachings of a large number of wise women. Many of them are included in our Living Spiritual Teachers Project and others are listed in our Religions and Spiritual Paths sections.

Editor Andrea Miller and the Editors of Shambhala Sun have done a great job in choosing the diversity of material covered: relationships, love, parenting, food, living fully, death, stress, and mindfulness. There are also essays on practices such as breathing, benevolence, gratitude, meditation, and lovingkindness. Here are some of our favorite "daughters of Buddha": Pema Chodron, Ayya Khema, Sharon Salzberg, Toni Packer, Karen Maezen Miller, Sylvia Boorstein, Joanna Macy, Tara Brach, Joan Halifax, and Charlotte Joko Beck.
