When spring fever takes hold of us, we abandon the present moment and become obsessed with the season that promises sun, light, blooming, warmth, and beauty. In this engrossing children's picture book written and illustrated by Carin Berger, Maurice is a little bear who has spring fever big time. As they settle down for a winter sleep in a sheltered place, he leaves his mother and heads off in his quest.

Maurice doesn't get much help from squirrel, rabbit, deer, or robin who are all making preparations for winter. Suddenly white crystals from the sky are falling on him and all around him. He climbs to the top of Great Hill and marvels at the snow. He returns home convinced that he has found spring. His loving and wise mother patiently guides him to a real experience of the season he has so diligently sought.

Finding Spring has been deemed suitable for children ages 4 through 8. It is the kind of book that affirms both questing and wonder as worthwhile spiritual practices.
