Marci Alborghetti is the author of more than 20 books and this paperback is her sixth for Twenty-Third Publications. It is a poetic devotional resource for those who yearn for Divine love, mercy, and help as they walk through the valley of pain, suffering, disease, and loss. She writes: "From allergies to lung disease, from cancer to bitterness, from anger to addictions, . . . we all, in some way or another, need to be healed."

Alborghetti has found a very soothing and serene devotional structure for the book. For each week of the year, there is a meditation piece with Scripture references, followed by seven brief modules for each day of the week with prayers and practices. There is a lyrical sense to these activities which sets them apart from other efforts to do the same thing.

Here is an example of one of them: "Healing Waters of Salvation."

"SUNDAY Pray: Lord, thank you for the amazing images of water in Scripture that remind me of its role in life, health, and salvation.

MONDAY Act: Drink water! Be conscious of making the effort to drink enough water. To increase the healing prospects of water, substitute it for sugary drinks, coffee, or even juice to save calories and cleanse your system.

TUESDAY Pray: Bountiful God, I praise you for providing water for day-to-day living and ask you to remind me of the importance of conservation and wise use.

WEDNESDAY Act: When you bathe, clean, cook, brush your teeth, wash your hands, water plants — whenever you use water today — be conscious of your use. Acknowledge how important water is in your daily life and routine. Remember the many people worldwide who don't have enough water. Avoid waste and give God thanks for every drop that you have and use.

THURSDAY Pray: Lord, forgive me for the times that I take for granted the many resources you provide, including water.

FRIDAY Act: Research and donate to an organization that works to preserve water, to use water for energy purposes, or to bring water to regions of the world where people suffer because there isn't enough.

SATURDAY Pray: Father, as your generosity flows through my life, let me "pay forward" your gifts to my greatest ability.
