This book reports on the author's encounter with a Indian tribe living in the mountains of Columbia, the Kogi, who still live the way their ancestors did before the Europeans came. They have a spiritual understanding of the bond between humankind and the natural world. They emphasize that we, "the younger brothers," must give up our destructive ways and honor the planet before it is too late. The Kogis message was the focus of an episode of PBS's "Nature" series last September; it has since been released as a video by Mystic Fire. We put it on our "Best of 1991" list.
