Marvelous and Relevant Books.
The Spiritual Heritage of India by Swami Prabhavananda is "a clear summary of Indian philosophy and religion." Prabhavananda was the head of the Vedanta Society in Hollywood during the 50s and 60s. It is a wealth of knowledge. One of the people who called him their Guru was Christopher Isherwood, who wrote My Guru and His Desciple, an insightful book about many things, especially about the relationship between guru and devotee in 'modern times'.

Book I recommend
I have recently read One Breath at A Time: Buddhism and the 12 Steps. It is an esp. clear and cogent way to look at simple Buddhist practices and the 12 Step practices when one is in recovery living with addiction. I like it very much and would like to join a group study using this book to deepen my own spiritual work.

Lessons from the Source - by Jack Armstrong
I have read many spiritual books over the years, including teachings by Neale Donald Walsch, Ramana Maharshi, Eckhart Tolle, Byron Katie, and others. I appreciated that this book not only resonated with me like the best spiritual books I've read before, but that it did so in such a positive way! Plus, the writing is so clear and immediately accessible.

I heartily recommend Lessons from the Source as a gentle and uplifting book to pick up when you need that deep-down reassurance that you are in God's hands.

There are excerpts and such at: http://www.lessonsfromthesource.com and a Twitter feed of daily inspirational quotes from the book: http://twitter.com/fromthesource.

Radical Amazement
Judy Cannato, author of Radical Amazement, links science and religion/spirituality in a most provocative manner. She has studied and researched concepts such as morphogenic fields, holographs, light, sound, cosomology, explaining it succinctly.
Judy reminds us that we are 13.7 billion years old, formed in God from the beginning and we come from the first flaring forth of light.
Her contemplative practices at the end of each chapter allow the reader to integrate the concepts of science with concepts of spirituality
Judy Cannato is an associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Retreat Director, Spiritual Director

Evolution of Consciousness
A book that explains the science of Christian mysticism is "Evolution of Consciousness" by John Kuykendall. It is a journey to a personal experience with Christ that goes through the layers of the mind and the parts of the mind. It transforms God from being an object to an actual spiritual experience.

The Nine Lives of Clemenza
I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this, so please forgive me if I am wrong!

I recently published my spiritual novel, "The Nine Lives of Clemenza" and believe that any spiritual reader would enjoy the book.

Blurb: If you were able to choose what form of life you would live, what would you be? The Nine Lives of Clemenza explores the realms of spirituality and reincarnation. It introduces the possibility that as complex souls, we choose our lives, thus giving us the ultimate capability of free will. Clemenza starts out as a new soul in heaven, contemplating what form of life she will take to begin her journey. God grants each new soul nine lives, provided they bring back a moral lesson learned. Clemenza is diverse in her choices, exploring every facet of existence from air to the northern lights to a human being. Roles are reversed and souls intertwine during Clemenza’s many lives, as she learns the meaning and importance of pain, grief, loss, love and passion.

If you are interested, the book is available on amazon.com. I've had a few positive reviews on the book so far and would love to hear your feedback!

Who Dies? and Living into Life and Death by Steven Levine
These are both fantastic books about how to face pain and suffering and soften. There are wonderful techniques even for dealing with minor aches and pains. I happen to work in Hospice, but we all at some time or other have to journey with a friend or relative facing serious illness.

Books on keeping your faith
Max Lucado is the most inspiring christain author I have read in a long time. I know there are many out there and I have read many of there books, but Max really knows how to write and get his message across to his readers. Here are a few of his books. The Applause of Heaven, When God Whispers Your Name, and In The Grip of Grace. I hope you will read some of Max's books. I know you will enjoy them. Ann
