Parker J. Palmer is a remarkable visionary, writer, speaker, teacher, and social activist who over the past 30 years has boldly addressed the major challenges and vitalities of education, community life, spirituality, and contemporary culture and society. He has left his indelible imprint on these important subjects and reached broad audiences with his multidisciplinary approach to change and transformation as an essential part of the human adventure.

Palmer is the founder and senior partner of the Center for Courage and Renewal where he has done pioneer work on the inner dimensions of leadership and the heart-based possibilities of democracy. In addition, he is always ready and able to share his Quaker perspective on silence, circles of trust, hospitality, and nonviolence.

"Practicing Spirituality with Parker J. Palmer" is a 40-part e-course in the popular series led by Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat. Participants receive 40 emails each containing a short passage from one of Parker's books along with a suggestion from the Brussats on how to practice that thought during the day.

The e-course addresses the issues, insights, and epiphanies in his work including the self and vocation, community and solitude, paradox and embracing opposites, action and contemplation, and the spiritual interpretations of teaching. Emails with passages from Healing the Heart of Democracy discuss "a politics worthy of the human spirit" and link to watch short video clips in which Parker discusses five "habits of the heart."

This e-course will enable you to take to your soul this key question: "Is the life I'm living the same as the life that wants to live in me?" Via his writings Parker will be our spiritual advisor stirring within us a freshness and a flourishing that only a master teacher, seasoned seeker, and wounded healer could provide. You will also be able to listen to a recording of a two-hour teleconference held when this e-course was first offered in which Parker answers questions on a wide variety of subjects.
