From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler is a fine family film based on a Newberry Award-winning book by E.L. Konigsburg.

Claudia, a 12 year old, convinces her younger brother Jamie to run away with her in order to get their parents' attention. The two hide out in the Metropolitan Museum and sleep in chambers created for kings and queens.

Claudia finds all the adventure she's ever dreamed of when she and Jamie set out to prove that a piece of Renaissance sculpture is actually the creation of Michelangelo. Their investigation leads them to Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler (Lauren Bacall), a wealthy recluse who shares a secret with the resourceful Claudia.

This family film pays tribute to an independent girl who fulfills her dreams and learns one of the lessons of maturity.
