My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 comes across as an overly talkative party guest who lingers far too long and bores everyone in the process. This is not the kind of review we thought we were going to give to the follow-up to one of the highest-grossing American romantic comedy. Whereas My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002) was filled with high spirits and a celebration of ethnicity, this one is crammed with ethnic clichés and stuffed with unappealing characters.

Toula (Nia Vardalos) is an unhappy middle-aged camper. Her daughter Paris (Elena Kampouris) wants to go to college as far away from her parents as possible. Her husband (John Corbett) is not paying much attention to her, and her parents (Michael Constantine and Lainie Kazan) are stressing her out with complications arising from their discovery that they were not really married legally.

Kirk Jones, who did a marvelous job directing Waking Ned Devine (1998), does not fare so well here as all the verbiage and the screaming characters make this drama into a mess. Toula is totally wiped out by all her problems which stem for her need for control.
