Haramiste is showing in the "CineSalon: Beyond the Ingenue" film festival presented by the French Institute/Alliance Francaise on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Tickets for the New York City venue are available here.

This screening of Haramiste is the U.S. premier of Antoine Desrosieres's terse, clever, and enlightening probe of the double edge of sex as both an alluring mystery and a forbidden and terrible deed. Rim (Souad Archane) and Yasmina (Inas Chanti) are teenage Muslim sisters who, after an encounter on the street with some young boys, launch into their own private and playful discussion about the exciting nature of sex. The younger sister is the one who is turned on and tuned in to the pleasures of erotic exploration. She affirms the pleasures of oral sex.

Once they return home, the older sister gets online with a dating service and begins chatting with a married man who has children but is looking for a one-night stand. She has set her mind on having sexual intercourse with him despite her sister's frenzied and jealous counsel to stay at home and not throw away her virginity.

In 40 fast-paced minutes, Antoine Desroseieres covers an amazing amount of territory without judging or putting down the fantasies, myths, and forbidden areas of casual sex.
