ZZ Top is a Texas rock band which formed in 1969 and released their first album in 1971. The three stalwart members are guitarist Billy Gibbons, bassist/vocalist Dust Hill, and drummer Frank Beard. They play a blues inspired rock that kicks out the jams.

In this documentary, all three three band members share their memories as they savor their 50-year jaunt as "oddballs" who refused to bow down to the fads or the fantasies of the East or West Coast recording industries. Finding their own way has resulted in success. By 2014, ZZ Top had sold more than 50 million albums worldwide.

Fans of the band and new devotees are sure to enjoy their accounts of being invited by the Rolling Stones to open their act; the strange feeling of performing for an audience of one; and a clever bit on how ZZ Top came up with their name.
