Around the World in 80 Days is a four-and-one-half hour adaptation of a Jules Verne classic that aired on television in 1989. Pierce Brosnan plays Phileas Fogg, a clever English bachelor who is set in his ways.

Always the consummate gamesman, he bets some wealthy gentleman friends that he can circle the globe in 80 days. Despite one obstacle after another, Fogg and his resourceful French-born servant prove themselves to be determined competitors. Along the way, they meet actress Sarah Bernhardt, scientist Louis Pasteur, financier Cornelius Vanderbilt, and robber Jesse James. One of the sidebar treats in this entertaining tale is Fogg's flustered state whenever it comes to expressing his feelings for an Indian princess he rescued from death.

Around the World in 80 Days is a thorough delight.
