Married To It is about the adjustments and fine-tuning three New York City couples must make to keep their marriages alive. Although Cybill Shepherd and Ron Silver have plenty of sex and money, they are being torn apart by child-raising disagreements in their blended family. Stockard Channing and Beau Bridges hold down low-paying government jobs and are bothered and bewildered by the middle-age blahs in their relationship. Mary Stuart Masterson and Robert Sean Leonard are newlyweds from Iowa who still haven't gotten the knack of open communication with each other. These three couples meet at a private school function and turn out to be friends despite vast age, class, and economic differences. The fine ensemble performances by the talented cast help mitigate the sugary sequences at the end of the film in which all the rough edges are miraculously smoothed over.
