Whoopi Goldberg returns as a Las Vegas singer who once again is convinced to help out the sisters of St. Catherine's Convent. This time they want her to teach music at an inner city San Francisco parochial school which is due to be closed down. The charismatic Sister Mary Clarence proves to be a miracle worker. She takes an unruly group of students and turns them into a choir good enough to be entered in a statewide competition. The message here is that self-esteem is pep food for winners. Sister Act 2 is like a pleasant visit to old friends — ones who enjoy laughter, music, and the satisfaction of a job well done. The film is directed by Bill Duke.
