Straight Out of Brooklyn focuses on the attempts of a frustrated and angry black youth to find a way to free his hard working mother, his younger sister, and his alcoholic and abusive father from their life of poverty in an inner city ghetto. Only problem is as his sensible girlfriend tells him robbing a local drug dealer is the wrong method. Writer, producer, and director Matty Rich scores some points here in the depiction of the family's hopelessness.
