In this film, Gerard Depardieu is Julien, a French paleontologist who discovers the fossil remains of a two-million-year-old woman. He calls her "Laura." When Jessica (Sigourney Weaver), an American advertising executive, learns about "the first French woman," she wants to use the lady in a perfume sales campaign.

This French comedy, directed by Daniel Vigne (The Return of Martin Guerre), abounds in zany situations, Julien is more relaxed with "Laura" than he is with either the modern romantic antics of Jessica or the attentions of his live-in girlfriend. One Woman or Two offers plenty of chuckles with its sassy brew of archaeology, advertising, rural life, and l’amour.
