This is a romantic comedy about the peculiar stresses of dating in the 1980s. David (Martin Short) and Kathy (Annette O’Toole) are apprehensive about their upcoming third date after two wonderful evenings together. Both insecure types, they are afraid of revealing any of their faults. Anyone who has ever been on a date where everything went wrong will identify with David and Kathy. Cross My Heart, directed by Armyan Bernstein, proclaims that honesty is always the best policy and that many of the bromides which pass for rules in the dating game are more harmful than helpful.
