This film reveals how separation and divorce bring pain, sadness, and a profound sense of loss to the whole family unit. In this top-drawer drama written by Philip Kan Gotanda and directed by Michael Toshiyuki Uno, Masi (Nobu McCarthy) walks out on her emotionally barren marriage to Nobu (Mako). Their grown daughters are stunned by their father's stubborn refusal to try and bring his wife back home. They are equally amazed by their mother’s sexual blooming in her sixties as she begins a new relationship with another man. The Wash has much to say about traveling from the country of marriage to the land of divorce.
