Kindness can be practiced until it becomes real. Acting as if we are kind is the way to strengthen our willingness to make kindness a reality today.

To Practice This Thought:
Pick a situation today in which you feel like responding in a grouchy, ungrateful, or hostile manner. Try pretending that you are the kindest person you know, and respond from that point of view rather than from your discontent. Notice what difference this attitude makes to the situation and to you.
