Practice the prayer of the eyes. Tether the eyes of your soul to those of your body, and then gaze prayerfully upon whatever is directly in front of you. Gazing is a three-act play. First, look with wonder, with holy awe, at the beauty, design and rich or subtle coloring of the object of your gazing. Second, look with expectation, with adorational anticipation of the appearance of the Invisible One who saturates all that encircles you, seen and unseen. . . .

Look with loving adoration and wonder, and then hold your breath as you apprehend the awesome truth that the Invisible One is also fondly gazing back at you.
