Decide that this year will be your most prosperous to date. Think about all the things you like to do, all the things that you could spend hours doing, that you would do even if you weren't being paid to do them. Write them down on a sheet of paper and see if your current work situation incorporates any of them.

If you're not working, pretend that your life is your job and do the same thing. Determine if the life you are living is really you, is really what you want to be doing, by listing all the things that please you. If you don't know what makes you happy, think of the times when you most enjoyed your life and try to reconstruct what comprised that enjoyment. This may take some time — days, weeks, or months — but keep it in mind.

If you are doing on a steady, day-to-day basis that which you love to do, acknowledge it right now. Tell yourself how fortunate you are, and express your gratitude for your good choices as often as you can, preferably when you first wake up and when you get into bed at night.

If you find yourself off the track, start thinking about how you can rearrange your job so that you can love it, really love it. Look into delegating tasks that take you away from your true skills and talents. If there's no way you can transform your job so that it pleases you, start thinking about getting another job, or another career for that matter. These changes do not need to be carried out immediately. Start with the thought, the idea, the vision. Actions will follow at the right time. Imagine yourself doing exactly what it is you want to be doing, and seek out people who are already doing it for guidance.
