Try this: next time you are outdoors, in a natural setting, stop what you are doing for a moment, and just listen. What do you hear? This is the sound of the world speaking and even singing to you.

This practice of opening up to this beautiful planet is one way to overcome the inertia or overwhelm we may feel when we contemplate what is to be done for the planet. Open up to the experience of intense beauty, the beauty of the sounds of this amazing planet. Through this opening process, we will enliven ourselves and reconnect to this planet. Listening to the land means engaging the various sense modalities. It is not only hearing, but seeing, tasting, touching, and smelling this wonderful world.
