for all who have been maimed or murdered,
and those who were traumatized through watching
the brutality of others.
We pray
for people buried under bombed-out buildings . . .
We pray for those with smoke in their nostrils and dust in their mouths,
lost and, perhaps, unremembered.
Lord, in your tenderness, hold them.
