This exercise is similar to combining dance and poetry or another creative channel . . . However, in this activity we will take that similar spirit into a group.

• Have the members of your retreat or group dance along a certain theme: the example I use here is "finding God in our dance."

• After the dance, invite each of the participants to write one or two lines about their experience with the theme.

• You, as the facilitator, or a group member can work to combine them in some way to make a cohesive poem. This poem offers a story of that group's experience during that particular practice.

• Sending group members away with a final copy of the poem offers a lovely memento of the experience. In the example used here, we elicited responses in an online forum. Thus, if you are facilitating a distance-based group or forum, this activity can be used as a call to creative contemplation.
