Decide that two days from now you will perform your household chores mindfully and prayerfully. Think about this over the intervening forty-eight hours, so that when the day arrives you have prepared yourself. Then do the normal daily tasks as you would on any other day, but do them watching yourself, as if part of you had stepped back to observe the other part that is doing the work. Be mindful of all your ancestors, including the saints, who did similar tasks, and realize that this work is not useless or a waste of time but can be an expression of your gratitude for life.
