That I might . . .

Oh, that I might ever know

    Your Presence in every face

    Your Pulse in every heart;

That I might ever feel

    Your Breath in every breeze

    Your Touch in every rain drop;

That I might ever see

    Your Smile in every bloom

    Your Might in each sunrise.

And oh, please grant

That I might view

    Life's beauty through

    Your Eyes

Lynn L. Salata, contemporary American author. Taken from The Beams of Prayer by Edward J. Farrell, compiled and edited by Lynn L. Salata.

Options:

• Try listening to chant (Christian, Buddhist, etc.) to help you center before devotions.

• Use this prayer during the day when you break for devotion, repeating it on rising, at noon or lunch, and upon retiring.

• Today, make the effort to see God's presence in every face you meet. Note the experience in your prayer journal.
