A trick I have used when things are boring is to imagine the moment as if it were a movie moment, super nostalgic-like, with lots of wistful or dramatic or emotional music. I think about how this particular combination of people, colors, sounds, motions, smells, can never happen again. It's the only time I'll ever be able to witness this moment. That helps me to really appreciate even the super-crappy stuff, like fights and bad weather.
