Seeing God as "the one in whom we live and move and have our being" means that prayer is not addressing a distant being who may or may not be there and who may or may not answer. Rather, within the framework of seeing God as "right here" and "all around us," as one with whom we are already in relationship whether we know it or not, prayer (verbal and nonverbal) becomes the primary individual means of consciously entering into and nurturing a relationship with God. Prayer is attending to our relationship with God.
