Each day the nuns at St. Elizabeth's would require that their pupils write "Soli Deo Gloria" meaning "All for the Glory of God" at the top of their papers. Johnye muses, "Somehow this allowed you to put yourself second. You could lose yourself in it. It was somehow quite freeing.
