It was understood that hospitality extended beyond the Christian family to embrace nonbelievers as well (cf. Gal 6:10, 1 Thess 3:12). Today we tend to have a much more domesticated (and proportionally impoverished) understanding of hospitality. For many of us, hospitality consists in inviting friends and family into our homes to share a meal or to celebrate a festive occasion.
