Carl Jung says that a person who fails to attain a religious attitude toward existence itself remains infantile, hence pathological. The religious attitude to existence is rooted in wonder at the mystery of sheer Being, at being here at all, the axiomatic certainty that there is a Meaning in our being here, hence in total openness to It.
