During the war in Kosovo a few years ago,
as the Serb army advanced into the country,
an Orthodox priest protected and hid certain Kosovars
who were in danger.
Later, when the tide had turned
and the Serbs were obliged to pull back,
some Kosovars sought revenge.
This same priest then protected and hid
the Serbs who were in danger.
He walked a thin, dangerous line
between two warring, fearful peoples.
He was witnessing to the love of Jesus, the God of peace,
who weeps as people seek to kill each other.
He was witnessing to the love of God
for each and every human being.
