The highest wisdom is kindness.
— Berakot, 17A (Jewish tradition)

This straightforward but powerful Jewish proverb — a beautiful echoing of the Dalai Lama's fundamental distillation of his own Buddhist path — sums up the essence of spiritual and human maturity. Genuine kindness is ever-expanding in its scope and consistency. Kindness will eventually transform the entire existence of an individual, having reverberations in the community and the world. Let us allow ourselves to be refashioned by the effective and beautiful quality of kindness.
