How do we imagine the God of peace?

In the sixteenth century, Ignatius of Loyola suggested that we use our imaginations to deepen our relationships with God. Following Ignatius' method, we picture in our minds God as a loving father, a caring mother, as Jesus our brother, or the Holy Spirit as the abiding presence of peace. Each day, we sit in silent contemplation with this warm and gracious image of God.

As we contemplate our God, over time we are touched at some deep emotional and spiritual level by God's own disarming spirit. We are drawn ever deeper into God. Our lives are transformed.
