Zen teachers are famous for saying, "If it's not tied down, I'll take it away from you!" That is a kind of odd promise they make to their students. You can struggle to keep hold of your delusions and attachments and favorite stories, but the moment your grip loosens the teacher will snatch you free of it, with a comment or a move or a laugh, or by no movement whatsoever.
